Conserve & Restore

Save Our Magnificent Meadows is delivering conservation projects in nine strategic landscapes, working in different types of grassland and using a variety of management techniques that will build a body of evidence that can be used in other places throughout the UK.

The landscapes, grassland types and conservation projects included in Save Our Magnificent Meadows were selected by a UK committee of grassland experts.

The range of grassland management conservation techniques that are being used across the landscapes include mechanical mowing, physically removing bracken, scrub and trees, introducing grazing, restoring habitats and creating access as well as setting up a community machinery ring and establishing a network of community meadow champions.  In some areas, a conservation advisory service will run alongside the practical land management.
